Clothing being a basic human need, deprivation of clothing indicates poverty, paucity or the aftermath of natural calamities. For children of the school-going age in rural and urban areas alike, not having enough clothes to cover the body leads to absenteeism thus unleashing a chain of unfortunate circumstances like illiteracy and ignorance; and perpetuating poverty, eliminates the possibility of progress.
The Charkha project is not just a solution to a problem but also a step towards self-sufficiency that intends to crack the vicious circle poverty and illiteracy.
